After years of competing in agility (and still are), we decided to pay some more attention to sheep herding. After all, herding sheep is the task kelpies were originally bred for.
We have now reached the point where we are running trials with Jelske and Allie and are looking into whether our young dogs are suitable for this as well.
In short, we put a little less time into agility (Mar was already in grade 2 at 2 years old by the terms of Excellence and Suus at 3 years old) and more time into sheep herding. A sport that requires a bit more from the dog and where the dog is judged on his/her qualities. Of course, as a handler, you also need to have the necessary knowledge and skills. A new challenge!
